The A-10C is an updated version of the 30-year old A-10A. The cockpit has two-F-16 style 5.5
inch color displays, a moving map display and other electronic upgrades while keeping the A-10
ability to function as a CAS aircraft/tank killer. They have taken the best of the “new” and
matched it with the best of the “old” and come up with one mean machine. The A-10C has
already seen combat in Iraq and Afghanistan. The A-10 motto, “Go Ugly Early”.
On October 24, 2016 the 190th Fighter Squadron "Skullbangers", 124th Fighter Wing (Idaho
ANG) returned to Gowen Field Air National Guard Base, Boise, Idaho after completing a six
month deployment to Incirlik, Turkey in support of Operation Inherent Resolve (OIR). OIR was
created to defeat ISIS and restore stability to the Middle East region by striking Da’esh targets in
Syria and Iraq. In 1978 A-10A 78-0633 was delivered to the 118th FS, 103rd FW, Connecticut
ANG ("The Flying Yankees") and transferred to the 190th in 2007 and converted to a C variant
